3 Ways to Make Tummy Time Easier

1. Use Your Body Instead of the Floor
Your baby does not have to be flat on the ground to benefit from tummy time. Try laying your baby on your chest or across your legs while you are reclining. Your familiar scent, warmth, and voice can help calm them and they will still be working those tiny muscles.
Bonus tip: Make silly faces or sing songs to keep them engaged while they lift their head to look at you.
2. Try Tummy Time After Naps or Diaper Changes
Babies tend to be more alert and content right after waking up or getting a fresh diaper. That is a great time to sneak in a few minutes of tummy time. It does not need to be a long session. Even 2 to 3 minutes here and there adds up throughout the day.
Remember: You do not need to do it all at once. Little bursts of tummy time are just as effective.
3. Get Down on the Floor With Them
Instead of placing your baby on their tummy and walking away, get down at their level. Talk to them, make eye contact, place toys nearby, or even try a mirror so they can see their own face. Babies are more likely to tolerate tummy time and even enjoy it when they feel like it is a social, interactive experience not a solo task.
